Objective:
This trauma informed programme is for parents and carers struggling with their children. We seek to provide support, education, and resources to help parents and carers understand and respond to their children's challenging behaviours in a trauma-sensitive manner.
Programme Outcomes:
By the end of the 6-week program, parents will be able to:
Understand Trauma-Informed Parenting:
Gain a comprehensive understanding of trauma-informed parenting principles and how they apply to their own parenting journey.
Enhance Parent-Child Bond:
Strengthen the bond between parents and their young people by building trust, emotional connection, and secure attachment.
Promote Emotional Regulation:
Learn strategies to help their children regulate emotions, manage stress, and develop healthy coping mechanisms.
Foster Positive Communication:
Develop effective communication skills to facilitate open dialogue, active listening, and understanding between parents and their children.
Set Boundaries and Structure:
Establish appropriate boundaries, routines, and structure to support healthy development and provide a sense of security for their children.
Promote Resilience and Self-Esteem:
Foster resilience and nurture self-esteem in their children by encouraging growth mindset, positive affirmations, and celebrating achievements.
Utilise Positive Discipline Techniques:
Learn positive discipline techniques that promote cooperation, teach problem-solving skills, and encourage self-discipline.
Practice Self-Care:
Understand the importance of self-care as a parent and develop strategies to prioritise their own well-being while effectively supporting their children.
Build Support Networks:
Identify and access local resources, support groups, and community services to create a network of support for both parents and children.
Evaluate Progress:
Reflect on personal growth and progress as parents, identifying areas of success and areas for continued growth in their parenting journey.

Session 3: Promoting Emotional Regulation.

- Techniques to support emotional regulation in children
Session 4: Effective Communication Strategies.
- Active listening skills and fostering open dialogue
- Conflict resolution and problem-solving techniques
Session 5: Establishing Boundaries and Structure.
- Setting appropriate boundaries and routines
- Promoting a sense of security and consistency
Session 6: Positive Discipline and Self-Care.
- Positive discipline techniques and alternatives to punishment
- Self-care practices for parents and creating a support network
Program Delivery:
The program will be delivered through a combination of face to face and virtual sessions, facilitated discussions, interactive workshops, Participants will engage in activities, role-playing exercises, and reflective discussions to enhance their understanding and application of the program content. Handouts, resources, and recommended readings will be provided to support ongoing learning and growth.
